Best Local Beaches: Criccieth Beach (East)
A long, sand and shingle beach sitting in the lee of a a rocky headland with a medieval castle ruin on top. The headland provides shelter from the prevailing westerly winds, and the gently sloping beach provides shallow waters and rock pools making it an excellent family beach.
A promenade runs along the back of the beach from which there are plenty of access points, many of which are suitable for disabled visitors. Beyond this is the small town of Criccieth itself where you will find a range of shops, cafes and pubs. Right on the beachside is one of our favourite restaurants, Dylans who have something on the menu for everyone, but our personal favourite is the seafood chowder with chips.
Easy parking along the promenade with free public toilets. Along the promenade to the castle has a dog ban from 1st April to 30th September.
It’s a great place to practice paddleboarding or visit by bicycle. The National Cycle Route 8 passes through Criccieth. We can provide e-bike and paddleboard hire for the day to this location. We can also arrange a private paddleboard session or e-bike tour to suit you.
We have childrens seats (up to 22kg) and buoyancy aids to add to your hire, and even a doggy bike basket (up to 8kg).
Remember with all our services we offer ultimate flexibility including free cancellation up to 48 hours before activity and if conditions on the day aren’t suitable we’ll rearrange or refund.
